It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the “International Conference on Aggregate Science-20th Anniversary of AIE Research”, which will be held on July 25-28, 2021, at the Huangpu International Convention Center in Guangzhou, China.
Since the concept of "Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE)" was first coined in 2001 by Ben Zhong Tang, the past 20 years have witnessed the rapid growth of AIE research and its tremendous contributions to the multidisciplinary research fields.
AIE concept subverts the traditional belief of aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) and changes people’s way of thinking about fluorophore aggregation. AIE model enriches photophysical theories and provides a new platform for design and development of new luminescent materials in the practically useful solid state. AIE has emerged into a new area of research in the world spearheaded by Chinese scientists. AIE study points out new research directions and AIE luminogens have been proved to be useful as advanced functional materials for applications in diverse high-tech sectors, showing performances superior to conventional light-emitting materials. AIE research has proven that aggregates as a separate entity could possess new properties that totally differs from its molecular components, which brings us to the meso world of aggregate science that awaits further exploration and adventures.
At present, more than 4,500 research groups from over 80 countries and regions have joined AIE research. More than 10 AIE special issues in a number of high-level scientific journals and 6 academic monographs have been published. Moreover, over 20 international and domestic AIE themed conferences and symposiums have been held in China, United States, French, Poland, Australia, Singapore, and so on.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of AIE research, the International Conference on Aggregate Science-20th Anniversary of AIE Research will be held in Guangzhou, China. This conference is jointly organized by South China University of Technology, AIE Institute, State Key Laboratory of Luminescent Materials and Devices, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates, Center for Aggregation-Induced Emission, Hong Kong Branch of Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Tissue Restoration and Reconstruction, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen).
The chairs and the organizing committee would like to thank all the conference sponsors, scientific committee, all speakers, poster presenters, and other participants, who will ensure that AIE20 will be an exciting and rewarding conference.
Warmly welcome to join us at the AIE20. We look forward to seeing you in Guangzhou.
